Rufus is an award-winning filmmaker and screenwriter that has been making films since the age of 8. He has numerous short films, documentaries, three original feature films and over ten feature-length screenplays on his resume. He graduated from Emerson College with a MA in Video & Film Production. Rufus decided to focus on creative pursuits and in 2007 co-wrote, produced and directed his feature film debut Divine Intervention, which achieved worldwide DVD distribution and online distribution through Netflix.
In 2011, Rufus set out on his sophomore effort The Muse, which showed remarkable growth as a filmmaker and debuted at the 2012 Boston International Film Festival to a stellar reception, winning an Indie Spirit Special Recognition award from the festival. The Muse went on to win Best Film, Best Director and Best Actor at The Indie Gathering Film Festival as well as rave reviews in many online and print publications. It is currently set for worldwide release in November of 2014 through Ytinifni Pictures.
2013 saw Rufus pen and Associate Produce the original screenplay Lazarus Rising, which completed Principal Photography that September with an All-Star cast, including Oscar nominated actor Eric Roberts, C. Thomas Howell and Lenny Clarke. Recently, Rufus’ screenplay Three Sheets was named as both a finalist in the West Field Screenwriting competition and one of 379 quarterfinalists for the prestigious Academy Nicholl Fellowship (out of over 7,500 entries). He plans to direct the film and has set 2015 for production.
